"What if we all jumped out of our boxes and chewed up our stupid labels? Who would we discover?"

AUTHOR: Julie Bauxbam⁣

witty. charming and strong. that's the book. that's it. this book had me gripped from the blurb. the blurb is nothing but a short excerpt from the book itself.⁣

Julie Bauxbam took up a story done too many times and managed to refresh it once again.⁣

a misfit boy meets the popular girl⁣

David Drucker always has sat alone on his lunch table until one day, Kit Harrington, the girl whose dad died joins him. What ensues is pure joy. my mouth hurt from smiling all the time.⁣

the witty conversations and the stark observations on life and the meaning of it all were enough to keep me hooked.⁣ David Drucker has a very different outlook on life, in contrast to all the characters i have read up until now.

Kit is the first main character in a YA novel that was (half) Indian. i was so impressed. i can't say it didn't feel great for an Indian kid to live high school, not as a mere stereotype but a 3D character, growing and evolving.⁣

the grief from the loss of a loved one was the most realistic i've ever seen. Kit's mom and Kit herself struggled to figure out how to react, what to do and how to help eachother.⁣ Each interaction they had, felt lifelike.

the complexity of each character and their own complex webbed lives were refreshing.
