''To absorb everything in the world. But also to escape.''
AUTHOR: Meg Wolitzer
The book starts with Greer, a shy intelligent girl in a local college, she ready to enjoy this experience but something happens, a great boy makes an unwarranted sexual move. When she confides this in friends, to her horror she finds that she's not alone.
Then she meets Faith, who is the kind of person that everyone wants to know and be around, she's a 2nd wave feminist, and has captured Greer's liking.
Reading the book's blurb, I didn't expected what I actually experienced in this book.
I liked the smaller threads of story that were embedded in this book, the smaller stories, and Meg's stark observations on how the meaning of success can totally change with a sudden loss, on friendship and betrayal, on parenthood, on love and commentary on abortion rights, wage gaps, rape culture and intersectionality in feminism.
The book also gave us short pieces from lived of each character, which vitally changed my opinion of them and I find that amusing
I found that I didn't quite idolize Faith as much by the end of the book as I started out, her character was well intentioned, even heroic but the way she was written, i got the end message well, that nobody can be perfect, and I grew to like Cory and Zoe much more, their personal growth was so wonderful to see.
The ending was pretty fast, and the events felt rather abrupt
