'FINAL GIRLS' is the name media uses for a few women who are the young, beautiful survivors of horrendous, grizzly murders. a sorority murder, a cabin nightmare, a highway hotel disaster.
Quincy Carpenter, was 19 when she found herself running away from a murderer who'd claimed the lives of all her friends in a cabin in the middle of the forest. Since then, she has no memory of that fateful night and is proud to be 'normal'
The story follows her and how the death of Lisa Milner, the first final girl gives way to a wast ocean of tumultuous events in Quin's life
The book had short chapters and an easily comprehensible language. i enjoyed the book's realistic description of the modern media's obsession with gruesome events like these, as well as how compromised the survivors of violence and abuse feel everyday.
we see through each of the survivor's stories how people choose to or are rather forced to deal with their trauma in the public eye.
Even though the book focuses heavily on the protagonist, Quincy and does not indulge much into other characters, Quincy was very comfortable to read from the beginning and the writing kept me hooked.
The storyline was excellent and even though the story only picks up in the second half, I never found myself bored with it, in fact the slow pace of the first half was very instrumental later
The twist at the end was very unexpected and I couldn't believe that I hadn't thought of the possibility that the ending provided.
Like all books I wished the author had given more room to the aftermath of the ending.
The book was a really great and quick read and did the job of a thriller well.
☠️However, the details of the murders and the countless horrors recounted in the book may be hard or triggering (don't like that word) to some.☠️
